Camping at Perrot State Park

I spent all last week in the great outdoors, camping at Perrot State Park. It was the first time I was at Perrot and I was pretty impressed.

Perrot State Park

It’s right along the Mississippi and if you’re willing to climb the bluff a bit, you can see spectacular views of the river and surrounding area. My favorite thing about camping there was how close the Trempealeau National Wildlife Refuge is. Just two miles away on the Great River State Bike Trail (which is also another good reason to camp at Perrot). With over 5,000 acres, lots of trails and it’s location right along the Mississippi River, the refuge is home to all kinds of wildlife, birds especially. I enjoyed the refuge so much I went there three times during my week of camping. The coolest thing I saw there was an egret diving into the river to catch a fish. That was pretty amazing. Unfortunately my camera was still in it’s case when that happened, but look for some other vacation pictures here on this site as soon as I get them developed.
