Bug me not
I can be a little paranoid when it comes to protecting my privacy online. I do not like to give my personal information unless I absolutely have to. I find it annoying when a web site requires you to register with your email address before you can view their content. The New York Times is a perfect example.
Previously, if I came upon one of these sites while I was surfing, I would just sigh and click somewhere else. Thanks to that fine publication, NetSurfer Digest, I discovered an excellent service which allows you to access these sites without entering any of your personal information. BugMeNot.com.
All you have to do is go to their site and enter the web site you want to access. BugMeNot then supplies you with a username and password. Using their bookmarklet makes it even easier. Save it to your bookmarks (I added it to my personal toolbar) and then just click it while you’re visiting whatever site you want to access. A window will pop up giving you the login information you need and -voila!- you’re in.
