My father and I just returned from a trip to Tennessee, where we spent most of our time in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park.
When you drive through the park, it’s difficult to keep your eyes on the road as scenic views emerge.

I came across this scene while hiking at Governor Dodge State Park today.
Late yesterday afternoon, some strong storms rolled through southern Wisconsin. I spent some time on my front porch, watching them go by. There is something very fascinating about weather — especially fast moving weather, that can captivate my attention for hours.
When I was hiking through the Arboretum last weekend, I was struck by the unusual blossoms some of the trees and shrubs had. You could even call a few of them “strange.”
