There are 177 small crosses placed throughout the Edgewood College campus this week. A cause of death is written on one side: probable hypothermia, heat exhaustion, gunshot wound to the back, or often “undetermined cause of death.” On the other side, some have names, many have “remains unknown.”
Each of them represents someone who perished in the Sonoran Desert last year, while attempting to cross the United States-Mexico border.
How sad to think people can be so desperate for a small piece of the American dream, that they’d put their lives in such danger.

The crosses certainly call attention to the sad ending of people who risk everything to have a better life. Applause to Edgewood for calling our attention to this tragic happening in our world. Lord have mercy. Thanks to Jon for posting photos on line for those of us who can’t get to campus to see the crosses in person.
