As a white man of privilege, I can’t begin to understand what it’s like living as a black person in America. All I can do is be sympathetic, supportive, and call out injustice when I see it. To that end, I went downtown to support the Justice for George Floyd rally.
Even though there was a lot of anger in the crowd (and rightfully so) I was pleased the organized protest here was peaceful. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case a few hours after that organized rally was over, when a relatively small group of people damaged property and clashed with police on State Street.
“Hands up! Don’t shoot!”
A sign in this photo summed up my feelings:
I am not Black but…
I will stand with you.
I will fight for you.
I will defend you.
I see you.
I value you.

Powerful day. I really appreciate that you showed up. Thanks for capturing and sharing some of the more peaceful moments so well.
Thanks for the comment! I felt so positive after leaving the rally… but it was pretty disheartening to see what unfolded later in the evening.
Thanks for posting photos of rally for justice. I applaud your stand against the wrong that is done to our fellow human beings. I’m with you.
