The mild aurora’s lesson

A few streaks of red and green light in the night sky with a few stars, above a prairie.

I missed the strong geomagnetic storm that occurred on the night of November 11, but the storm was predicted to continue last night. Determined to give it a try, I ventured out into the country, away from city lights. Luckily I was able to catch some mild aurora borealis.

Mild red and green color in the night sky with a few stars. The horizon has a building and a few trees in silhouette.

They weren’t very visible with the naked eye (I heard the brilliant display from the night before was), but at least the camera was able to pick up some decent color. The next time I get an alert on my aurora app, I need to remember the lesson of that missed opportunity. I didn’t feel motivated to head outside on the night of Nov. 11, but from the photos I’ve seen, it would have been so very worthwhile.
