Washington National Cathedral

When we were in Washington D.C., my father and I stayed at the dorm of the College of Preachers next to the Washington National Cathedral. It was nice going back to a local, quiet neighborhood at the end of every day, away from the hustle and bustle of the mall.

Dad has been to the Cathedral many times before. It’s one of his passions. It was great to have my own personal docent along as I visited both the inside and the outside of the Cathedral. As he pointed out to me, when the sun moves across the sky you can see a beautiful kaleidoscope effect on the interior of the Cathedral from the light of the stained glass windows. Below you can see that effect along the north aisle.

On the grounds next to the Cathedral is the Bishop’s Garden. The folks of the All Hallows Guild do an excellent job beautifying the space around the Cathedral.
