While I was in Monterey, California for the conference, I took a few vacation days to see the sights.
My favorite day off was when I rented a bicycle, and rode all day long on the Monterey Bay Coastal Bike Trail.
This was one of the best bike rides I’ve been on in a long time. Just gorgeous scenery to look at while riding along the trail.
Tsunami hazard zone? Yikes!
The drier coastal climate has very different vegetation, compared to what I know in Wisconsin.
The weather that day was perfect for biking — mostly sunny and a high of about 65 (F).
You know you’re in California when you see people surfing the waves.
I took a LOT of pictures on this bike ride. I’ll post some more in a few days.

Hi Jon, More great photos, thanks for sharing them.Looks like a great place to visit and ride a bike.To me you can never go wrong so close to the ocean. 🙂 We enjoyed the postcard you sent too.Hope you’re having a good week. Chris
Hi Jon: Just now saw your photos of bike ride along the Pacific coastline. Excellent! Especially like the ones where the rocks jut out from the water. Beautiful spot. What a great place for a bike trail. Thanks for posting photos for all of us to see. Blessings.
Hi Jon,
Glad to see you enjoyed California. Must have been a fun bike ride. Here in Minneapolis today we are having gorgeous weather too. It’s been about 70 degrees the last few days. Thanks for the postcard! Happy halloween!
