One afternoon while I was camping, major thunderstorms were being predicted. As I listened to the radio and heard reports of the storms moving across the state (which included tornado warnings for counties in the storm’s path), I decided I didn’t want to be at my campsite when the storm came through, and headed to town for supper. After supper I hung out in town for a few hours as torrential rains and very strong winds hit the area. Once the storm warnings were over I drove back to camp.

The sky at dusk
When I was camping last week, I wasn’t on the right side of the lake for watching the sun set. But the sky still offered some beautiful scenes during that time of day.
Common loons
One of my favorite things about northern Wisconsin (where I just returned from camping) are the common loons that spend the summers there.
They’re beautiful and kind of elusive. They don’t like to get close to humans at all. But I was armed with a new telephoto lens I bought several months ago, and was determined to get some decent shots.
Reaching for the sun
Some trees always seem to be reaching higher. Over the years they continue to strive for heights not yet attained. They wait patiently through cold winters, and resume their hard work again in spring — always keeping their focus on that goal of growing bigger.
The next time I think giving up would be easy but not the best choice, I?m going to remember this tree.
Turtle yoga
This turtle was posed in that position for at least ten minutes. I guess sometimes you just need to stop and stretch your legs for a while.

At Miller Park
Yesterday, my father (Wil Bloy), brother (Steve Bloy) and I went to Miller Park for a Brewers game.
Beetle in the sweet spot
Hiking around Olbrich Gardens the other day I came across this beetle, smack in the middle of the sweetest part of a flower.
All aboard!
More ghosts from Madison’s past…
At the former site of the city’s Milwaukee Road station, a passenger train sits dormant.
