Piling up fast

January 14, 2024Life, Snow & IceJonathan

Snow pile looking down one side of a driveway. Trees and a cloudy sky are in the background.

It’s hard to believe that five days ago I could see the lawn in my yard. Two big storms later, and these snow piles along my driveway are three feet tall.

Between storm sunshine

January 12, 2024Landscape, Snow & Ice, WinterJonathan

Closeup of fresh snow on pine tree branches. Snow covered trees and blue sky are in the background.

Trees are sanctuaries

December 31, 2023Quotes, TreesJonathan

Two large, bare cottonwood trees standing tall in a forest. A blue sky is above with a hint of a sunset color on the horizon.

“Trees are sanctuaries. Whoever knows how to speak to them, whoever knows how to listen to them, can learn the truth.”

Finally, some snow

December 29, 2023Landscape, Snow & Ice, WinterJonathan

An area of freshly fallen snow in front of a covered footbridge that crosses a pond. Prairie grass and trees line the shore of the pond.

A little snow yesterday made it actually look like winter! Sadly, the weather forecast sounds like the snow will soon be a just a memory. Burke Park in Madison.
