May 8, 2020BirdsJonathan

duck sleeping on a rock in the sun

On a cool day, this duck recommends an afternoon nap in a nice sunny spot.

Coming into leaf

May 5, 2020Quotes, Spring, TreesJonathan

Two trees starting to grow leaves

The trees are coming into leaf,
Like something almost being said.
The recent buds relax and spread,
Their greenness is a kind of grief.

From The Trees, by Philip Larkin.

Daffodils

April 12, 2020Flowers, SpringJonathan

Daffodils in front of a decorative fence

Something else I’m missing this spring: Walking through Olbrich Botanical Gardens and seeing the spring blossoms. Guess I’ll have to settle for these daffodils on this side of the fence.

The trees in southern Wisconsin aren’t green yet, but look close, they will be soon.
