Beetle in the sweet spot
Hiking around Olbrich Gardens the other day I came across this beetle, smack in the middle of the sweetest part of a flower.
Tulip pollen
Spider on the ceiling
Fuzzy seed pods
Even before the spring weather causes plants to start growing again, there are beautiful things to see in the woods.
Testing the new lens
I’ve been interested in getting a longer lens for a while (especially to get closer to wildlife). A few days ago I bought a Promaster 70-300mm F/4-5.6 macro lens. Since normal telephoto shooting is fairly straightforward, I was anxious to test the lens’ macro capability. The conservatory at Olbrich Gardens would be the perfect spot to do that.
I’m going to like being able to get in close, like the above shot of the very young and fuzzy ficus leaves.
The julia butterfly
At the Olbrich Gardens butterfly exhibit today, one particular julia butterfly was very patient with me. While most of the other butterflies in the dome fluttered about, this one just stood there, posing like a model for several minutes.
