I hiked through Lewis Nine Springs E-Way and above average temperatures today. With the warmth and the sunshine it felt like springtime in January. It sure has been a strange winter so far.

Another visit to the Black Lagoon
I spend last week camping in northern Wisconsin, where I made my annual summer pilgrimage to the Black Lagoon on the Star Lake Nature Trail. As I’ve said before, this is my favorite view in all of Wisconsin. The thought that entered my mind when I was there this time was, I’ll bet it looks just as amazing in the winter. Someday, I’ll have to see for myself.

I spent the afternoon hiking one of my favorite local spots for autumn colors, the U.W. Lakeshore Nature Preserve. There is nothing like being in the middle of the forest there, when the maple trees are at peak color and the sun is lighting them up.
