It feels like it’s going to be a long time until the lifeguards make an appearance in Madison. While I was driving on the beltline this afternoon, I saw a bald eagle flying over the Yahara River. A sign of the continuing long winter, rather than the sign of spring I’d prefer to see.

It’s funny how water, whether in a frozen or liquid state, seems to behave the exact same way (albeit at drastically different speeds).
Cirrus clouds over Door County
The day I climbed the tower in Peninsula State Park last week, the sight of the clouds in the sky were just as interesting as the vistas of the Lake Michigan shore.

Peninsula State Park’s Eagle Bluff Lighthouse, one of the many historic lighthouses still standing in Door County.
It’s now a museum run by the local historical society.
The bike trails of Peninsula State Park
Last week I was camping at Peninsula State Park. I just love the network of bike trails there.
Using the trails (and bike lanes along the road) you can take in almost every terrain the park has to offer.

Dock drifts
At last, winter has asserted itself in Madison.
Thursday’s storm created some nice snow drifts along the dock at Tenney Park. They looked like crashing waves to me, frozen in time.
