At the bottom of of this outcropping is a small sample of the colored sandstone that gives Pictured Rocks its name. That type of formation is much larger and more prominent on the eastern side of the park.

Lakeshore abstracts
One day I was watching the waves wash over the shore on Lake Superior. I was fascinated by the distorted sunlight in that crystal clear water and those patterns in the sandstone, etched by the lake’s waves.

I biked into Burrows Park right before the thick cloud cover moved in, and caught the best of last night’s sunset.

I caught this sunset the evening before my accident. It was 0° F, with a -16° wind chill, but the sun’s glow on the horizon under the dark clouds made enduring the cold worthwhile.
I’m looking forward to the day I’ll be able to raise my camera to my eye again.
