Last week I was in Washington DC to attend a library conference. I also took a few vacation days to hang out on the mall. Luckily for me, the cherry blossoms were at their peak.

Spring is finally here!
I can always count on the crocuses at Olbrich Botanical Gardens to confirm spring’s arrival.
Unlikely sights
To take a break from the cold temperatures this past weekend (25 degrees below normal), I went to Olbrich Botanical Gardens spring flower show, Dinosaurs & Daffodils.

After weeks of rain and cooler than normal temperatures, there seems to be a sudden explosion of flowers everywhere.

At last, a concrete sign of spring! Although when I see these tiny, first blossoms of the year, it seems to me that Mother Nature is tentatively testing the change of season. As if she’s saying, “Let’s see how these small flowers do before I commit to anything bigger.”
Need some green
I took a walk in the woods today. With everything still so bare and brown, it could very well be November instead of April. We need some green.
