Muted colors

The autumn colors in southern Wisconsin (especially the reds) have seemed muted this year, likely because of the drought. This maple branch shows colors quickly turning brown, while tree branches above are still green. Is time running out for those vibrant colors?

I love looking at large, old trees. This beautiful oak tree in Vilas Park has to be 150-200 years old. When I see trees like this, I imagine scenes from days-gone-by the tree was a part of, and the memories it might have. If only it could speak…
