While I do love the change of seasons in Wisconsin, the loss of daylight this time of the year is aspect of the change I dislike the most. I can take the cold, I actually like the snow, but the extended hours of darkness are the worst. The sun goes down about 4:30pm these days — too early for me.

There’s something special about flowers that bloom in autumn (like this chicory). Perhaps because they appear at a time when everything else seems to be turning brown and dying off.
Autumn colors in the fog
After I hit the farmers market today, I spent some time downtown, where the autumn colors were doing their best to brighten a foggy morning.
Almost sky high
Hiking through the prairie at Lake Farm County Park, I was amazed by how tall the prairie grass gets. This patch had to be at least eight feet tall.
