Elroy-Sparta State Trail
This week I continued my summer tour of Wisconsin recreational trails. I’ve been meaning to ride the Elroy-Sparta State Trail for a long time. Opened in 1967, it’s considered this country’s first trail to be built on an abandoned railbed.
Youngster among giants
My favorite view in all of Wisconsin
I’ve visited the Black Lagoon along the Star Lake Nature Trail (in northern Wisconsin) many times before. Yet whenever I am in the area, I am always drawn back there to see it again.
When I take the boardwalk path over the bog, and the scene reveals itself, I’m almost overwhelmed by the serene beauty. That feeling hits me every time I visit, even though I know what to expect.
I can’t wait to see it again.

The Bearskin State Trail
The best thing I did while in northern Wisconsin last week, was spend the good part of a day biking the Bearskin State Trail.
Eagle eye in the sky
Under the tall trees
I spent last week in my favorite camping spot, under the tall trees of Wisconsin’s north woods.
