Yes, there are beavers living in the city of Madison. I saw these trees along the Starkweather Creek, a few blocks south of Milwaukee Street. I’ve also seen similarly chewed trees in Vilas Park along Lake Wingra.

In some parts of the city, there’s been great gnashing of teeth over the beavers. I’m actually glad to see them here. After how many years of beavers being absent from this land, nature finds a way to reclaim its space.
