The Androy Hotel

Two stone columns, an overhang, and a sign mark the entrance to the Androy Hotel. A red neon 'Hotel' sign and room windows are above the overhang along the building's brick facade.

When I was in northwest Wisconsin last month, I stayed at the Androy Hotel in downtown Superior.

A fairly ornate lobby inside the hotel.

Built in 1925 (but with modern, up-to-date rooms), and a few blocks away from the town’s railroad stations, the Androy Hotel is a throwback to those days of glamorous travel, where you would get dressed up, and ride the train to your destination.

A hand turns a key in a door that is partly opened. Beyond the door is a window and bed.

When was the last time you used an actual key to enter your hotel room?

Front facade of an eight-story, brick hotel building. A few storefronts are on the first floor along the sidewalk. A streetlamp and bus stop shelter can also be seen in front of the building.
