Fault line

January 20, 2025Lakes, Snow & IceJonathan

Large chunks of ice breaking the surface of a smooth, frozen lake in a long meandering line.

Went for a walk on the water. Lake Mendota, off of Governor Nelson State Park.

Close up of a triangle shaped chunk of ice, jutting above the surface. The downtown skyline can be seen in the distant shore under blue skies.

Ice chunks break above the surface of a lake in a long winding line that continues to the opposite shore, which is lined with bare trees.
