Along the shore at Pictured Rocks

Pine trees on a bluff reflected in an inlet of a lake. Sand curves around the edge of the inlet on the side of the photo.

While I was in Upper Michigan, I spent a day at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. Such a beautiful place (even with some hazy Canadian smoke in the air).

A narrow cliff rises along the shore of a lake. The water below has a clear blue-green color and trees surround the scene.

Tall bluffs in the distance along the shore of a lake. A sandy beach with kayaks and vegetation is in the foreground.

I could have spent an entire week exploring the park. In the 6-7 hours I was there, I only managed to see about a quarter of the property (and I have many more photos to share).

Tall bluffs in the distance covered with trees. Red, layered sandstone can be seen on the lower part of the bluffs. Trees and a beach are in the foreground.

  1. Your two posts (this one and the previous) sure show a contrast of two different shore lines of Lake Superior – quiet and serene, and the hard rock strewn caused by relentless waves. Kinda reminds me of life – sometimes hard, sometimes quiet. Thanks for posting

  2. Hmmm… the different shoreline conditions as a metaphor for life. That’s an interesting thought and very fitting. Thanks so much for the comments!
