Eclipsing with Chris

I was fortunate to have a very convenient place to witness the total eclipse: The backyard of my sister Christine and brother-in-law Glenn, in Lebanon Indiana.

A water tower and some bare tree branches under mostly blue skies. Text on the water tower says 'Lebanon, This Is Home'

Earlier in the week, the forecast wasn’t looking that great for eclipse viewing, but we woke up that day to mostly blue skies! Lebanon is the Boone County seat, and they had several organized watch parties. “Get Mooned in Boone!”

Front facade of the Boone County Courthouse. A lamppost in front has a sign that says 'Total Eclipse in the Heart, Lebanon Indiana. Get Mooned In Boone.'

We tried playing with shadows during the eclipse, but didn’t have much luck. The thing that worked the best was a spatula that Chris had.

The shadow of a hand holding a spatula. The smaller holes of the spatula show quarter-moon shapes from the eclipse projected on to the white poster board.

When I got home and looked through my pictures, I realized that I neglected to take a photo of Glenn, or one of Chris and Glenn together. Sorry Glenn! Hope to see you both again soon so I can rectify that. Thanks so much for hosting me!
