When you enter the lower level stacks of the Wisconsin Historical Society Library, you walk down a metal stairway, and find yourself in a cramped space with very low ceilings, and prominently visible building infrastructure.
The foggy unknown
We’ve had dense fog in Madison for two straight days. Some people complain about the gloominess the fog brings, but I love its mysterious nature.

Season of transition
The calendar and the leaves on the ground tell me it’s autumn. The unusually cold temperatures in Madison tell me it’s winter.
All the leaves are down
Season of darkness begins
While I do love the change of seasons in Wisconsin, the loss of daylight this time of the year is aspect of the change I dislike the most. I can take the cold, I actually like the snow, but the extended hours of darkness are the worst. The sun goes down about 4:30pm these days — too early for me.

The leaves seem to be in a hurry to hit the ground lately.

It’s hard to resist bright yellow leaves against a deep blue sky.
