Mother Nature took the condensation on my storm door and created some frosty artwork last night.

Tracking fresh snow
While I’m recovering, I’ve been exercising my creative muscles by revisiting photos I took and never shared, and taking advantage of post-processing techniques that I’ve developed since they were taken. This shot is from December 2013.
The x-ray
I was able to get a copy of this at my first follow-up appointment after my accident. It’s hard to see them all, but that’s twelve screws attaching the titanium plate. Doctor said things are looking good. I’m supposed to start therapy and weight bearing in about four weeks.
R.I.P. beautiful girl
A tribute to the snowy owl that captivated so many of us in southern Wisconsin in recent weeks. Sadly, she was found dead a few days ago. Thank you beautiful girl. May your memory be a blessing.

Icy cold sunset
I caught this sunset the evening before my accident. It was 0° F, with a -16° wind chill, but the sun’s glow on the horizon under the dark clouds made enduring the cold worthwhile.
I’m looking forward to the day I’ll be able to raise my camera to my eye again.

A photograph I did not take, of the portion of sidewalk where I tripped.
The temperature was -12 (Fahrenheit) with a wind chill of -29. I was rushing from my car to get into work and out of the cold. My left shoulder took the brunt of the fall after I stumbled. I ended up breaking my upper arm bone in a few places at the ball end, and surgery was needed to fix things. I now have a titanium plate with TWELVE screws in my left humerus. No doubt, I’ve got a lot of physical therapy in my future.

Before the polar vortex
A wonderfully sunny, 48 degree, pre-polar vortex lunchtime walk yesterday. The temperature is predicted to drop 50 degrees over two days. You’re such a tease, Mother Nature.
