Wright Street Falls
There are a lot waterfalls near Marquette, Michigan (where I stayed when I was in the U.P.). Most are kind of off the beaten path, and require a bit of effort to find.

Miners Castle
At the bottom of of this outcropping is a small sample of the colored sandstone that gives Pictured Rocks its name. That type of formation is much larger and more prominent on the eastern side of the park.

One day I was watching the waves wash over the shore on Lake Superior. I was fascinated by the distorted sunlight in that crystal clear water and those patterns in the sandstone, etched by the lake’s waves.

Along the shore at Pictured Rocks
While I was in Upper Michigan, I spent a day at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. Such a beautiful place (even with some hazy Canadian smoke in the air).
