Barn at Gov Dodge State Park

There is an old barn in the middle of Governor Dodge State Park. A reminder of a farm that existed years ago on the same land.

I took a day trip to Governor Dodge State Park the other day, where the autumn colors seemed to be at their peak.

Dancing prairie grass

October 9, 2010Autumn, Landscape, PrairieJonathan

On a recent hike at Cherokee Marsh, I came across a view that rivals traditional autumn color scenes.

The prairie grass, back lit by the sun, and moving from the afternoon’s strong breeze, seemed to be dancing in the spot light. Made me wish I had a video camera.

When you walk parts of the Edgewood boardwalk this time of year, it’s almost as if you’re walking through a trench. Your only unobstructed view is up.

Eager for autumn

September 23, 2010Autumn, TreesJonathan

I’ve come to realize that the ash tree in front of my house is always very eager for the fall season, and it expresses its enthusiasm by being the first tree on the block to turn colors in the autumn.

Ironman bikers

September 13, 2010BicyclingJonathan

I went bicycling along Lake Monona yesterday. The Ironman Wisconsin race was going on at the time, and I took a break from my ride to photograph and cheer on the racers (who were riding along side the recreational trail).

The Farmall H

September 5, 2010Family, HistoryJonathan

Dad and I went to the Rock River Thresheree yesterday, to look at the antique farm equipment. The Farmall H is the tractor my grandfather (Theodore Bloy) bought around 1950 to use on the farm where my father grew up. Dad (Wilmer Bloy) stands beside an H from that era below.
