Soon to be magnolia blossoms.

Construction obstruction

April 6, 2023CityscapeJonathan

Sections of concrete pipe are laid out on a street. An excavator is parked at the end of the pipes.

Atwood Avenue is going to be real nice when they’re done (especially for biking), but in the meantime…

Is it really spring?

April 4, 2023Close Up, Flowers, SpringJonathan

A purple crocus blossom in the middle grass just starting to grow. A brown, dried leaf lies on the ground next to it.

The crocuses that pop-up in the spring are so tiny and delicate. It’s almost as if spring is tentatively peeking its head above ground and saying “Is it safe? Is winter finally gone?”

A calm sunset

April 2, 2023Silhouette, Sky, TreesJonathan

description

After severe storms the night before and snow yesterday morning, last night’s calm sunset was a welcome sight. Olbrich Park in Madison.

Waiting in the shadows

March 29, 2023LakesJonathan

Canoes and kayaks on storage racks under a tree. There is snow on the ground, and a lake can be seen in the background.

Spring snow

March 26, 2023Landscape, Snow & Ice, SpringJonathan

Snow on the shores of a small river with trees on either side. In the foreground is a railing covered with snow.

I suppose it wouldn’t be spring in Wisconsin without a big snow storm.

Overpass

March 24, 2023Black & White, CityscapeJonathan

A sidewalk leads to a ramp for a pedestrian overpass. The fenced ramp takes a loop in the foreground supported by two large pillars, and leads off in the distance over the highway.

A black and white photo from a grey day.

House sparrow

March 22, 2023BirdsJonathan

House sparrow perched on some bare branches with his white breast facing the camera.

This little guy was not interested in sitting still for a portrait! I felt lucky to get a couple of pics in focus.

Cold weather antidote

March 19, 2023FlowersJonathan

White and purple bell shaped flower with yellow stamen.

A visit to the (indoor) spring flower show at Olbrich Botanical Gardens is the antidote for a very cold and blustery day.

Grateful for shadows

March 16, 2023Shadows, Snow & IceJonathan

Shadows of a bare tree on top of a layer of fresh snow. In the background is a lagoon and a line of trees under a blue sky

Appreciating the strong shadows on the snow (as well as the blue skies) on a cold mid-March day.
