Appreciating the sky

November 20, 2022Hiking, SkyJonathan

description

Hiking outside today in January-like temperatures and a bitter cold wind, the beauty of the sky above made it all worth while. Edna Taylor Conservation Park.

First snow

November 12, 2022Close Up, Snow & IceJonathan

Close up of a small evergreen branch with fallen snow that has collected on it.

Well, it’s not sticking to the ground (much), and it is making my evergreen look pretty. I’ll take it.

Scenes from a sunset bike ride

November 10, 2022Bicycling, Silhouette, SkyJonathan

The sun just over the horizon, next to a light house and pier. The sky has wispy red, orange, and white clouds.

A 67 degree temperature a half an hour before sun down sent me out on my bicycle yesterday. Probably my last sunset ride before my bike goes into hibernation for the year. What a beautiful evening.

Tranquil sky watching

November 1, 2022Black & White, Lakes, Nature, SkyJonathan

Streaky clouds over a calm lake. On the side are a few bare trees lining the shore.

I spent my lunch break watching the streaky skies over a calm Lake Wingra the other day. A much needed moment of nature’s peaceful tranquility.

Late season pedaling

October 30, 2022BicyclingJonathan

Two bicyclists round a curve on a paved trail. In the background is a large willow tree with yellow and green leaves.

Another warm and beautiful weekend. Feels so good to be out on the bike for extended rides this time of year. Still a bit of color out there too.

Colors fading fast

October 28, 2022Autumn, Close UpJonathan

Close up of large leaf that's turning brown from all of the edges in, giving it a yellow and brown fractal pattern throughout.

Autumn’s peak along Starkweather Creek

October 26, 2022Autumn, RiversJonathan

Along the shore of a creek are brilliantly colored red and yellow trees under a deep blue sky.

The colors last weekend were amazing, including that blue sky.
