Indian summer bike tour

October 24, 2022Autumn, Bicycling, CityscapeJonathan

description

Sunny, and temps in the mid 70’s means it was a perfect weekend for a mini-tour of the city, by bicycle of course. You sure are beautiful Madison.

Mourning the fallen

October 22, 2022Autumn, Life, ThoughtsJonathan

description

It’s hard not to feel a bit sad when the leaves start falling, foreshadowing the loss of beauty and warmth. I know there’s always hope for brighter times to come. But for now, mourning the beauty that’s lost seems fitting.

Like stained glass

October 20, 2022Autumn, TreesJonathan

Looking up at the underside of a maple tree that has bright orange and leaves, lit from above by the sun.

I love the sight of backlit leaves this time of year.

Silky soft explosion

October 15, 2022Close UpJonathan

Milkweed seed pod, opened up like a large cotton ball, showing the seeds and silky fibers attached to them.

Milkweed gone to seed.

Framed

October 11, 2022Autumn, TreesJonathan

Two trunks of trees in the foreground frame a maple tree with all red leaves. Along the same hillside are trees just beginning to change colors.

Beneath a yellow canopy

Looking up at two maple trees with leaves that have turned a golden yellow.

The trees sure have been changing colors rapidly the past week or so.

Fork in the trail

October 7, 2022Hiking, Life, ThoughtsJonathan

Hiking trail splitting off into two directions. Most of the photo is blurred. Only the center spot where the trail splits is in focus.

There are always paths to choose, even when out on a simple hike. Which way should I go? Which option is the better one? When hiking or in life, the choices are not always crystal clear.

The best of autumn

October 5, 2022Autumn, TreesJonathan

A starburst sun shines through a canopy of red maple leaves.

Warm, sunny, and colorful — these are the best days of autumn.

Early October color

October 2, 2022Autumn, TreesJonathan

A line of trees across the shore of a small lake. Most have green leaves, and a few have orange and yellow leaves. A tree leans across the foreground on the side.

Seen at Mirror Lake State Park.
