I biked over to Tenney Park to watch the sun set last night. When I got there, I found six large rocks (about a foot and a half tall), perfectly balanced along the rocky edge of the pier.

Yesterday evening I biked around Lake Monona. During the entire ride, my eyes kept being drawn to the sunbeams in the sky.
Streaks of color at dusk
Last week I was camping in northern Wisconsin. Of the six days I was there, the persistent clouds allowed me to see only one sunset. That evening on Trout Lake, about 20 minutes after the sun drifted below the horizon, gorgeous streaks of color appeared.

Early yesterday evening it looked like we’d be in for a nice sunset. By the time I biked over to Tenney Park to take in the view, the clouds moving in from the west had something else in mind.

The past few days, we’ve had long-overdue seasonal temperatures in Madison. As I watched the bright sky turn to twilight along Lake Monona yesterday, I wondered… is the sun setting on this long winter?
