November twilight
From the shore of Lake Monona.
Season of darkness begins
While I do love the change of seasons in Wisconsin, the loss of daylight this time of the year is aspect of the change I dislike the most. I can take the cold, I actually like the snow, but the extended hours of darkness are the worst. The sun goes down about 4:30pm these days — too early for me.
Almost sky high
Hiking through the prairie at Lake Farm County Park, I was amazed by how tall the prairie grass gets. This patch had to be at least eight feet tall.
Mimicking clouds
It seemed to me the clouds here were doing their best impression of the fallen tree’s root structure.

Summer solstice 2013
I had planned on documenting the sunset tonight. The clouds however, had a plan of their own.

Two days of sunshine
You know you’re anxious for spring, when you celebrate two days in a row of sunshine and (mostly) blue sky. It won’t be long until those bare branches are filled with leaves.
