What a difference a year makes. In early March 2012, temperatures in Madison were in the mid 60’s. This year I’ve got snow piles at the end of my driveway that are over 60 inches tall.
I suppose there’s a kind of balance in there somewhere.

It’s funny how water, whether in a frozen or liquid state, seems to behave the exact same way (albeit at drastically different speeds).

Last winter there wasn’t enough snow in Madison for me to use my snowshoes. It’s good to be out there making fresh tracks again.
I spent my lunch break yesterday marveling at how Thursday’s blizzard transformed the boardwalk behind Edgewood College.
So far, about 12 inches of snow has fallen at my house during today’s blizzard (and it’s still coming down). All the disruptions that occur during a major winter storm can be a real pain (and sometimes dangerous). I must admit, I complain about having to shovel heavy, wet snow. But it really does make things look beautiful. This was the scene as I walked out of my side door this afternoon.
I wish we could have the beauty without all of the aching backs and other nasty things.
