Finally, some snow

December 29, 2023Landscape, Snow & Ice, WinterJonathan

An area of freshly fallen snow in front of a covered footbridge that crosses a pond. Prairie grass and trees line the shore of the pond.

A little snow yesterday made it actually look like winter! Sadly, the weather forecast sounds like the snow will soon be a just a memory. Burke Park in Madison.

Winter solstice bonfire

December 22, 2023Life, SkyJonathan

A large bonfire reaches into a dark, cloudy sky. A crowd of people surrounds the fire.

Last night’s celebration at Madison’s Olbrich Park. There was much drumming and dancing. Happy Solstice!

An old brick, two-story building. The corner of the structure has a door with a turret above it on the second floor. Above the door is a green neon sign that says Mickey's.

American robin

December 12, 2023Birds, WinterJonathan

Robin perched on a bare tree branch. Its body has more of a round shape from the feathers being puffed out.

When the weather turns cold (and windy!) you need to puff yourself up to keep warm.

Touching the sky

December 10, 2023Close Up, Prairie, Quotes, SkyJonathan

The top of a tall strand of prairie grass, with seeds on the end, leaning over. A blue sky with some soft puffy clouds is seen in the background.

“To touch the sky, you just have to get that little bit closer.”

Olbrich Park sunset

December 7, 2023Silhouette, Sky, TreesJonathan

Two trees in silhouette in front of an orange and deep blue sunset sky over a lake. The downtown Madison skyline (also in silhouette) can be seen on the opposite shore.
