Seeing an owl is always a special encounter for me. I came across this barred owl while hiking the U.W. Aboretum.

This little guy was not interested in sitting still for a portrait! I felt lucky to get a couple of pics in focus.

When you’re awaiting the colors of spring, you can always count on the northern cardinals (even the females) to brighten things up.
