The feather
While out on a hike, I noticed a feather on the trail and picked it up. From some kind of sparrow maybe?
As I walked along the trail carrying the feather, I pondered how much of its existence was spent flying through the air. When I got to the trail’s observation tower, I thought it would be appropriate to put the feather back in the sky where it belonged (well, as high as I could place it). So I left it perched on the railing of the tower.
Time to migrate?

This great blue heron was kind enough to stand still for a pretty long photo session. Though I suspect she was probably just waiting for lunch to swim by.
