Autumn color developing

October 9, 2024Autumn, Hiking, Landscape, TreesJonathan

Looking down on the shore of a lake under a blue sky. Trees starting to turn their autumn colors fill the countryside behind the shore. Large boulders are in the foreground.

Hiking along the east bluff trail at Devil’s Lake State Park yesterday, I saw the developing color from up high and in the middle of the forest. A beautiful place to spend an afternoon on such a beautiful day.

Looking up at a few branches of red and green maple leaves.

Looking down on the shore of a lake. Trees behind the lake are mostly green, but about a third of the trees are colored various shades of orange, red, and yellow.

The sun shines through a break in a shadowy forest. Backlit by the sun is a branch of glowing yellow maple leaves..
